Affinity Photo2 can't verify licence or connect to server

Recommended Posts

Hi,

So, I got a V2 trial licence in the Affinity store and downloaded Affinity Photo 2, but I can't seem to login with my Affinity account in the app.

When I open the Affinity Photo 2 I get a white 'Licence Activation' box that asks for my "Email (Affinity ID)" and "Password".
This doesn't work, and I get the message:

"Thank you
Unfortunately, we still cannot verify you licence at the moment.
We'll try again the next time you launch the app."

Although, if I put in bogus Email/Password I get the message:

"The Affinity ID or password was not recognised"

If I try to use the Account section to enter me Account ID/Password I get the following message.

"There was a problem communicating with the server"

I'm experience these problem on a Mac running 10.15.7

I've been able to register a Trial Licence using a different account on a Windows machine, on the same network.
So I don't think there are network issues. And I was able to log in with the accounts Affinity ID.

And I expect I would be getting the "Affinity or Password was not recognised" message if I was entering in the wrong values here.

Any idea why one account might be working and not the other?

(I haven't tried using accounts on opposite computers yet as one is work and the other personal, so I don't  want to mix them)

Screen shots of errors attached.

Can I suggest turning off your firewall temporarily and trying again?

@SFurniss

I have made sure that LittleSnitch allowed connections from Affinity Photo. I even tried disabling its filter. But I still got the same message.

My test putting in a bogus username/password, and getting the bad username/password message, was my test to make sure that I could actually connect to the server.

So it looks like I'm able to connect to your authentication server, but it seems the server doesn't seem to be recognise the 30 day trial on me account.

Hi all,

please try the following workaround to solve the issue. It did the trick for me.

Create a new user with admin privileges in the Users & Groups panel.

Logout and back in as the newly created user.

Start your Affinity application and enter your Affinity ID and Password.

If your license has been activated successfully, you should find three folders within in the new user’s Library > Group Containers Folder that end with:

…com.seriflabs
…com.seriflabs.beta
…com.seriflabs.extensions

Copy all three folders to the same location in the original user’s Library folder to run your Affinity app(s) within your original user account.
