Inserting Images, Publisher

Recommended Posts

HI, I'm fairly new to publisher, so it may seem a basic question. I created a document a few months ago and placed images inside the doc. I have a table and the images I previously interred allow me to centre, left justify etc... with the buttons, so functioning like text, when I also move the table the images move with the table. Any images I am inserting at the moment don't have this functionality and every time I move the table the image stays where I have manually placed it. I have tried to convert to a text box or picture frame but it doesn't change anything. In the layer panel the previous images have an attribute of (Image) and the new ones I insert have an attribute of - Embedded Document. Any help please on how to make them like the original images, allowing me to centre to a cell and move with the table? The image I am inserting is a .svg.

An Image layer would typically be a JPEG, TIFF, or PNG file, I think. An Embedded Document would be some other kind of file (.afphoto, .afdesign, .afpub, SVG, PDF, EPS, etc.). I don't think it should make a difference in how they behave, but I've never tried it.

Can you tell us:

  • What OS you're using, and what version of Publisher?
  • What kind of files the Images are, and what the Embedded Documents are? The Resource Manager should show this.

If you try again, but adding a file that shows up as Image, do you get the old or the new behavior?

Can you share that .afpub file with us? If it's something private a Moderator can provide a private upload link if they need to see it.

Hi Walt,

Thanks for coming back to me. I am using a Mac and the version of publisher I am using is - 1.10.4. I have just purchased V2 but haven't installed it yet.

Please see the attached file. The icon at the side of Painting & Decorating and also flood management are the new ones I have newly placed into the document.

As a side issue while you have the file I have tried but can't seem to get the recycle icon (left of text "Skips and Waste") to line up to the top of the cell. I have tried altering the settings under table, paragraph and character but there is still a gap and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks. I'll try to take a look at it.
