I am still using AD and do not have AD2.

Ever since AD was first published I have asked for a feature that would allow accurate drawing in perspective. I have used Sketchup and Adobe Illustrator but I couldn't get on with either of them. CAD apps allow perspective views to be generated but first an orthographic drawing needs to be created.
As a retired technical illustrator, of the old school type - ellipse templates, technical-pens and perspective grids, all done on a drawing board, the AD style of grid could be the answer.

May I offer this suggestion to be part of the 'Grid access manager'. Attached is a file demonstrating how I see a perspective grid working.
The 4 views show a perspective object drawn relative to the 'Origin' of the X, Y and Z axes.
The Grid access manager could use slider controls to zoom in for minimum perspective and zoom out for greater perspective.
There could also be a slider control for up and down, and left to right relative to the Origin for positioning the object to be drawn.
For drawing to known scales i.e. imperial or metric, a variable number scale to which units of measurement could be chosen for the X, Y and Z axes. These would increase or decrease as the Origin is moved through zooming, up, down, left or right.
When using such a grid any line (stroke) would automatically follow the angle of the axes to its vanishing point. This auto action could be over-ridden for manual placement.
Ellipses would be generated so that their minor axes would go to the vanishing point of the X, Y, or Z axes whichever is chosen. The size of the ellipse would depend where in the grid it is placed.

This may all sound very simple but I suspect that it isn't and that is why it hasn't happened yet.

Just a thought.

Hi Jason, I don't follow what you are trying to say exactly!
