bluedarter Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 Hi. I've just upgraded to Affinity Designer v2, on both iPad and Windows. My use model is using Designer (on Windows or iPad) to modify/customize sewing patterns, then use Designer on iPad to project the pattern using an external projector (wi-fi or hdmi). I project the pattern down onto my fabric on a cutting surface. The main issue today is that the projected solid line drawing has pieces of lines missing. In most cases they look like dashed lines rather than solid lines, in some cases line segments drop out completely while I am moving the display window around. I am saving the modified file as an .afdesign file. Hopefully if I export it as .pdf I will be able to project it using Designer V1.... Is this a known issue with V2? Quote

Yes the initial release has had some issues with external screen. Are you still having issues with the latest update? Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen). Yes I still have issues using Affinity Designer v2.0.3 on my iPad and an external screen (projector). This limits the usefulness to me of ADv2 on my iPad. Quote

Sorry to hear that. I think the feature is still a work in progress 🙁 The developers are apparently working flat out trying to fix various issues but as users we have no information on their progress or priorities. Dan C Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 Hi @bluedarter, Thanks for your report and our sincerest apologies for the delayed response here. We are exceptionally busy following the release of V2 and we thank you for your continued patience and understanding here. We're aware of a few issues with external displays and Affinity V2, however the description you've provided isn't something I've heard happening previously. Can you please confirm for me: What model iPad are you using? What version of iPadOS is installed? Are you Mirroring the iPad display, or is this an Extended display? (ie same content on iPad as on your projector, or are these independent screens?) Do you have Display Zoom enabled in iPadOS settings? Does this occur in any file, or only specific ones? Many thanks in advance! Quote

I am using iPad Pro (9.7-inch) (model#: MLMV2LL/A iPad OS 16.2 This issue occurs when I have "Present on External Displays" set ON, and the iPad is connected to the projector If I turn off "Present on External Displays" then the issue goes away. However this is NOT an acceptable solution for me due to my use model: the mirrored iPad screen is a much smaller display area than the projector is capable of showing, and I need the big display in order to project my pattern pieces onto my fabric and cut the fabric out. Display Zoom? Do you mean Zoom under Accessibility? If so, then no. It occurs with every file I've used with ADv2, which is currently v2.0.4 ADv1 does not have this issue, so I am using ADv1 to display patterns onto fabric and cut them out. Thanks, Evelyn Quote
Dan C Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Many thanks for verifying that for me and my apologies for the delays once again - I can confirm that I've been able to replicate these issues when using a Lightning to HDMI adapter with the iPad Pro 9.7" model and therefore I have logged this as a bug with our developers. I'm not 100% certain for the reason of the difference currently, as strangely this does not occur when using newer iPad models with USB-C connectors. I hope this helps Quote
bluedarter Posted March 3, 2023 Author Posted March 3, 2023 @Dan C will a fix for this appear in v2.1? I saw the beta program info... Quote
Dan C Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 This issue is still logged with our development team at the moment, it certainly may be fixed for v2.1 but I cannot provide a guarantee or estimated timeframe for this as this time, my apologies! Quote
