Lorigan
Is there a way to To edit a layered file from AP round trip to another app and back?
crabtrem
We were just discussing that in another topic. Now this is only my personal opinion, but from what I have read I am thinking that the Adobe Photoshop .psd format would be the choice. I believe that the .psd file will retain your layers with minimal changes or loss. And .psd files are most likely the most widely supported format among other applications. Although I have not specifically tested these myself.
Lorigan
So there is no file-edit in option?
crabtrem
If you want to edit a file between Affinity Photo and Designer, you have under the File menu a Edit in ........ option. From Affinity Photo it will be File - Edit in Designer, and the opposite in Designer. I thought you were talking about applications outside of Affinity. Staff DWright Posted January 25, 2016 Staff Share Posted January 25, 2016 Hi Lorigan, Use the File - Export option to save as a PSD file and you will be able to open this in other applications and the layer will be kept. Lorigan
Thank you. I was talking about outside applications. I was referring to how in Photoshop plugs ins work, only how AP does it.
crabtrem
I have not used any photoshop plugins, but in Affinity Photo preferences there is a section for Photoshop plugins.

jmac
Lorigan, support for plugins in Affinity Photo is early in it's development and should improve over time. There are a number of threads on plugins here that may give you more info but the short answer is right now some plugins work and some do not.
