Kája
Hello. I've only spent two minutes in AP so far, but I've already faced an annoying problem. I tried to open two RAW files. One worked, second (from my Canon G7X M2) resulted in crash. Ok, it happens... but the AP could not be started after that. I went into settings, tried to end app, reset app, repair app. Nothing worked. I tried to restart computer.. still the same. Only solution was reinstalling the app. EDIT: Windows 10 home 21H2 (19044.2251) AP v2.0.0.1640 downloaded from Affinity. PC: Ryzen 5 3600; 32GB RAM; GF 3060 (12GB); system disk - M.2 512GB, second disk SSD 1TB SATA. EDIT2: After reinstall, I tried to open JPEG (drag&drop) and it crashed... problem is back. I'm not familiar with logging (can try), there was no error message during crash. EDIT3: Notebook with W11 seems to be better. Primary desktop PC has still the problem (although AD v2 seems to be OK). Opening RAW or larger (24mpx) JPEG works in 1 of 4 cases. Otherwise it crashes and reinstall is needed. Tried to choose my GF3060 or WARP (and restart app) in settings. No change. I would be glad for any responce over the next few days, because I would like to meet the 2 week deadline for refund (now, V2 is completely unusable for me). Btw. don't you plan to extend limit for refund? When I see all these problems with V2 to solve... I would like to give it a chance.
Kája
I tried to lower RAM limit from 16 GB to 9 GB a opening JPEGs is stable. Maybe I'm just sily, but is it possible that a higher value of RAM compare to GPU RAM could cause problems? (16 or 9 of 32 GB shouldn't make difference). HW acceleration on/off had no impact on stability.
Staff NathanC Posted November 29, 2022 Staff Share Posted November 29, 2022 Hi @Kája, If the app is crashing from opening certain image files is then asking for the app to be repaired/reinstalled before launching again i've had some users resolve this problem by going through a full reset of the app to it's default settings (note: this will wipe any custom content currently installed on the three apps) by following the below: Close down all Affinity Apps From the start menu/desktop hold down CTRL and open Affinity Photo 2 whilst still holding CTRL This will prompt a 'Clear user Data' menu, tick 'Affinity Photo 2' and 'All Affinity 2 apps' to ensure all boxes are ticked (do not tick the deactivate box at the bottom) Press Clear, the app will now start, try and open any of your files which were previously causing an issue again. It is quite unusual that you've found reducing the RAM limit allows images to be opened, though hopefully after following the above this won't be needed.
