I can't import the assets in affinity photo

Recommended Posts

@winfried tesmer

So, I was finally able to reset all my Affinity apps and re-download all content successfully.  For reasons unknown, I had previously been unable bring up the Reset Dialog by Ctrl-Open.  But today, it seemed to work as expected.  I reset everything except did not choose to Deactivate.  It took a while and the app seemed frozen at times but I just waited and eventually, Photo V2 opened.  Going to my account, logging in, then re-syncing all assets eventually pulled everything down and installed without any more issues.

Hope this helps anyone else that may have experienced this rather odd problem.

Thanks for the message, it always doesn't work with with . I keep getting an error message about the assets . no matter how I want to install them. there is an indication in my account, see screenshot, that there is an error with the download. But that's wrong, I can download anything outside of affibty. Greetings from Berlin, Winfried

I'm looking for a reset function for affinty, the way it was downloaded, in my opinion it could all work then. but where is this command?

The Reset is as explained above in my previous post.  You have to hold down the Control Key then click once on the Photo 2 icon and select Open from the Menu ( or just right click on the Photo 2 icon and select Open ).  This should provide access to the Reset function as described. You should see the following dialog box if it is working.  I chose to check both the Affinity Photo 2 and All Affinity apps so that everything gets reset.

Hope this helps.  Good luck.

I can't find the window you sent me as a screen.

When you first launch (start up) the app, hold down the CTRL key. It isn't something you can get to after the app has started running.

Hi, I imported all my asset files (.afassets) and shortly after the last import Affinity Photo failed to respond so I closed the programme and restarted.  I then noted that all the assets were missing and I had the same problem in as much as I only got error messages when trying to import.

After a search in various places on my hdd I found the file assets.propcol in C:\Users\,insert username.\.affinity\Common\2.0\user and noted that it was quite a large file.  I took it that my assets were registered in this file so I copied the assets.propcol and then pasted as assets_copy.procol in the same folder (just in case).

I deleted the assets.propcol file and when i restarted Affinity Photo I noted that there was a new (empty) assets.propcol file.  The assets then imported perfectly, I created new folders and all worked properly.

I think the issue was that when AFP failed to respond the assets.propcol file was not closed properly/corrupted and the programme could not successfully open it.

I think you're probably right.

I have a huge number of brushes and assets on my system, and sometimes when updating them the app can become "not responding" for several minutes. I have learned to be patient, and if I'm updating assets, brushes, etc. I do not force-close the app until at least 5 minutes have passed. On very rare occasion 10-15 have been required.
