“Smoothing” out a color

I needed to elongate the canvas on a wide photo so the sky was taller. So I enlarged the canvas and used the Smudge brush to pull the sky upward to fill the now tall canvas. 

I’ve been trying to “smooth” the sky for about 20 minutes now so it doesn’t look so streaky. Does anyone have any idea what tool I’d use to blend the sky so it looks more uniform in color and not so streaky?

An alternative approach. I use muds macros pack and the infill macro to fill in blank space. See below.

I’ve attached the macros so you can import them into a category.
