athom
Hi, I've designed an A4 document and am now printing it. It appears the printable area on the page is slightly smaller than the full A4 document. If I can move all the objects on the page including the guides towards the top of the page, everything will fit in the printable area. Moving the objects is no problem, but I want to move the guides too so I can save the document and keep working on it later without having to do all the moving again. Scaling down might be possible, but that would reduce the size of text which is already almost too small so I don't want to do that. So far I don't see any way to achieve this, including searching this forum. Is it possible? Thanks!
GarryP
Welcome to the forums @athom You can only move Guides individually, either by dragging them using the mouse or by using the Guides Manager, they cannot be moved together. athom
firstdefence
You could use pseudo guides using curves, i.e. drawing lines to simulate guides and then grouping all of the lines, in this way you get to do what you want and drawing the pseudo guides will be easy if you enable snapping to the existing guides while using the pen tool. After you have drawn out the pseudo guides you simply hide the real guides or just delete them. athom 1 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Sequoia 15.0 (24A335), iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... JimmyJack
Hi @athom, I'm assuming this is in Designer? Do you have Photo? Do a round trip and use the crop tool. Crop in Photo can remove and add canvas. i.e. File > Edit in Photo, use the crop tool, File > Edit in Designer. (I don't have Pub, maybe it's different in there) Also, this will not work if you're working on an Artboard. The crop tool in Photo is grayed out in that instance. athom
athom
Many thanks for the replies. Using curves to replace guides sounds like an ingenious work around for the current limitation, will definitely try that going forwards. I do have have Photo so the crop and add canvas round trip sounds like a good possible solution in this instance, with a large number of guides to reposition.. Much appreciated! Hopefully the ability to select and move multiple guides will be added by Affinity in the near future.
