Vosje Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 Hello, there's a problem with the way Affinity handles overprint settings, I have first discovered it in Publisher, but all the apps do the same thing actually. The problem is that even if you create a custom swatch and use overprint settings on it, Affinity will completely ignore it except when you export it to PDF... but even then, the actual overprint is triggered only when you use third party software (as in, Acrobat or Photoshop). When you use Affinity to open the very same PDF it's being ignored (as in, the app doesn't display it visually and when you rasterize your image on export to, say, JPEG, no overprint is being applied by Affinity to the exported image). It's as if the app doesn't actually do anything with overprint setting whatsover in the situations you'd expect it to... Please see this thread, especially posts by lacerto who made lots of tests which show what doesn't really work the way it should have: Quote
Staff stokerg Posted November 2, 2022 Staff Posted November 2, 2022 Hi @Vosje, This is a known issue/limitation of how Affinity imports a PDF. Currently the overprint is lost on import. This is logged with the Developers and hopefully will be improved on in a future build of Affinity. Quote
Vosje Posted November 3, 2022 Author Posted November 3, 2022 Hi @stokerg, thanks for your reaction, I hope that this will be improved in the future, too. Quote
