Dan C
Hi @EricGraphix, The easiest way for us to assist would be with a copy of your image/Affinity document, and a brief description of what you're hoping to achieve - this way we can test different methods with your image and offer the best advice without guessing! Are you able to attach a copy of this image/file here for us? If you have found a PS tutorial that you hope to replicate in Affinity, you could also link this within your reply. Many thanks in advance
EricGraphix
In the tutorial she used mixer brush to smooth out the scratches and on the ring so that's what I want to do. She put all her settings at 20% at the the top but affinity photo doesnt have all of those settings. I'll send copy of AP document.

Dan C
Many thanks for providing those for me! In my opinion the Paint Brush Mixer tool wouldn't be best for this in Affinity, as you've mentioned it doesn't support the same settings as found in PS. Therefore I'd recommend the following: Duplicate the background layer Select Filters > Frequency Separation Increase the Radius of the separation to between 8-10px, depending on how 'smooth' of a look you want This will create 2 separate layers from your image, the High Frequency and the Low Frequency Select the High Frequency layer and add an empty mask Select the Paint Brush tool, with the Colour set to Black and reduce the Opacity / Hardness (I used 70% & 50%, respectively) Paint on the mask to reduce the scratches on the ring, until you're happy with the effect. I've attached a quick screen recording of this below for you - 2022-10-25 15-51-20.mp4 I hope this helps!
