Hello everyone,

using Affinity Designer, is there a way to assign a list of text snippets to predefined slots?

Example: I want to create a periodic table. I would probably use Symbols to design a single element cell. Then I'll duplicate and distribute the symbols ~120× to form a periodic table.

Let's assume I already have a list of element names (Hydrogen, Helium, Lithium...) in a text file. Can I somehow instruct Affinity Designer to distribute these element names in order into my ~120 symbols? How would you do it?

Thanks!

Not using Designer, due to it having no data merge features.  Affinity Publisher would be able to do this as it does have data merge, see here for more information on this in Publisher :)

Here's one I did earlier.
Uses the Data Merge Layout Tool and a spreadsheet with appropriate gaps in the data for the unfilled cells.
No need for symbols, the design for the top left cell will be replicated to the others as my numpty example shows.
Further embellishment of individual cells can be done on the generated result.
Hours of fun
