How can I create 3D shapes - in designer or photo?

Recommended Posts

I wanted to follow this tutorial which I started doing in designer. Then I got to the part where I couldn't find anything similar to the knife tool. Tried using the pen tool to mark the shape to be cut and then the geometry options but that didn't work.

The 3D tool in the effects tab also doesn't all dimension - I thought if I made a 3D shape then masked the text onto that or something along those lines I could get something similar.

Is there a way or is it due to missing features?

Thanks!

I had a quick skip through the video and there are at least three functions which I noticed that are not available in Designer – Knife, Vector Warp, and Blend.
Doing something like this in Designer will be possible, but it will probably be quite difficult and lots of experimentation will be required.

I kind of figured - I was hoping if anyone had any advice to be honest because I've tried other methods but I can't figure it out

Hi @smellyapple,

Unfortunately this isn't directly possible in Designer currently as there is no Vector Warp Tool, however Photo has a Mesh Warp Tool & Liquify Persona which may allow you to achieve this -

Mesh Warping: https://affinity.help/photo/English.lproj/index.html?page=pages/SizeTransform/meshWarping.html?title=Mesh warping

Mesh Warp Tool: https://affinity.help/photo/English.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Tools/tools_meshWarp.html?title=Mesh Warp Tool

Liquify: https://affinity.serif.com/tutorials/photo/desktop/video/497691540/

I hope this helps!
