Histogram stops working after a few minutes

Recommended Posts

Whenever i use the histogram, it stops updating after some minutes.

Sympoms are:

  • A frozen histogram. You might be able to change channels, but no more update besides selecting channels.
  • Scope don't show. After selecting any scope chart, no scope is shows, stays at histogram.

The only cure is to force close Photo and restart. Unfortunately the issue always comes back after some minutes.

Below is a rather lengthy video, you may skip to about 4:00 until it happens.

In this video, i added a channel mixer to rotate rgb channels and the issue started. Any operation can trigger this.

Used the flood selection tool and “marquee selection only” to enforce frequent histogram updates.

You may need to “merge visible” before starting selection process.

ps happens on both iPads i own. Happens on Desktop, too.

Histogram is such an essential tool. Pity it’s still unreliable on all platforms. Problem exists from day one i started to use Affinity in 2017, on every PC and device.
