Works for me if after creating the new stack with Automatically Align Images disabled, I change the live Stack group operator setting from (the default?) Median to Outer, Maximum, or Range. The attached Moons.zip (~12 MB compressed) includes the Moons.afphoto file with a 1 step history included plus the 6 jpegs from the OP, each renamed as 1.jpg, 2.jpg etc. to simplify the Layers panel view.
