Ravel Kamga
Hello guys, please my trial version ends in 3 days and id like to buy Affinity designer. so far so good but today I realized I can't open smart objects from mockup files. I don't know if its because I'm on the trial version (or at least I hope that's the reason) cuz I'd really like to buy it and keep on working but I need the smart objects feature. Clicked on the thumbnail and double clicked but it doesn't open the smart object. I had a laptop with version 1.8 and it opened smart objects. right here is my new personal laptop so... please I need an answer before the end of my trial so know, thanks a lot 🙏
walt.farrell
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. Check your application Preferences. There's an option on the General tab for handling PSD smart objects as smart objects. It's off by default. GarryP
As Walt said above, but also... The trial software is fully functional (but only until the trail ends). Not all smart objects can be opened ‘fully’ in the Affinity applications because the Affinity applications don’t have all of the functionalities that were available in the application(s) which created the smart objects. The Affinity applications try their best but not everything is possible – you need to check on a smart-object-by-smart-object basis. Yeah I just noticed this as well. the mockup doesn't display properly. had this issue as well with the 1.8 where some mockups would have perfect smart objects and others not. I was kind of hoping version 1.10.5 would solve that issue. Your functionalities explanation is clear. Thank you.

I really hope upcoming versions will be able to open those mockups... other than that, Affinity is my favorite designing software 😄
