Affinity Photo Crashes and Windows Blue Screen video_dxgkrnl_fatal_error

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

Sorry to bother everyone, but I have some difficulties with the affinity products recently.

It's the same with affinity photo or publisher on windows. (obviously we are on the windows part of the forum...)

I work like an hour or so on the software until it freezes, then I have a blue screen on windows with the following error: VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR

I updated everything I could on my laptop, windows (10), BIOS, Nvidia pilots....

my configuration is:

  • XPS 15 9560 (it's a 4k touchscreen)
  • i7-7700HQ
  • x64
  • Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050

In the past I had some crash with the affinity softwares but not so much.

This last week, the blue screen happened almost each time !

It's quite bothersome because I have client work to do.... and losing work is a bummer.

PS: Oh sorry, I'm not on the affinity subforum, could you move it please ?

Anyway, thanks in advance if you can help !

Bye,

Hi Kaltzboy,

The Affinity applications aren't able to cause a BSOD, as they are user-mode applications. Only kernel-mode applications (i.e. drivers) are capable of that. I would recommend trying the solutions provided by Hens in most cases this can be caused by a GPU driver so perhaps ensure that you have reinstalled the latest version and if the BSOD still persists perhaps try rolling back to an older driver.

Thanks
