Affinity Rat Posted April 3, 2022 Posted April 3, 2022 Having trouble saving or closing files or returning to the Affinity Gallery, I’ve discovered the following: This usually occurs after a shared asset or drive is shut down After exactly 1 minute the app may start responding Saves maybe almost immediate but app hangs for 1 minute after the save If the connection to the shared drive is killed from the iPad file manager after loosing the connection, the app seems to behave normally. See image below, when share is turned off at source, iPad maintains share like its still there. It appears the app times out after 1 min, but when I tried to open a .afphoto file from file manager it waited 1 minute then after that it displayed the message “Downloading” wait another minute then the file opened. The file was local and should open immediately. Closing the connection not so easy, I start to open new connection (but cancelled), after that it killed the old one. When still connected can kill connection by clicking on blue icon but doesnt work (maybe I didnt wait for a programatic time out). Quote
Staff NathanC Posted April 4, 2022 Staff Posted April 4, 2022 Hi @Affinity Rat, Could you confirm the size of the file you're working on when you encounter the issue? Are you loading this file from the shared location and the shared location is then disconnected and then the issue is encountered or is the file you're working on local to your iPad? Quote
Affinity Rat Posted April 4, 2022 Author Posted April 4, 2022 This file was copied from the shared resource, then shared resource shut down. The file was then rasterized (seems to have doubled in size compared to its pre-rasterized state) a selection was made and saved. The ipad file manager still shows a connection to shared device. After the save which took about 1-2 secs the app hung for 1 minute. beach umbrella.afphoto Quote
Staff NathanC Posted April 4, 2022 Staff Posted April 4, 2022 Since the issue is likely resulting from the file having loaded from a shared location and that shared location being closed, could you try saving the file locally from the shared location, opening that and seeing if when the shared location is closed if the application hang occurs when the file is saved. Affinity Rat Posted April 4, 2022 Author Posted April 4, 2022 Actually as I mentioned in the orig post, I have a workaround now that I know what is happening, I posted this here for other frustrated users. Quote
