LuBu
I have a picture (pure white). This should be my background for two colour pictures. Every time I insert one of my colour pictures it becomes black & white. I'm new to Affinity and a little less new to photo software, but I can't solve my problem. Any help? I'm using Affinity photo and designer. Thanks in advance, LuBu
walt.farrell
If you Open your picture in Affinity Photo, and select the View Tool (Hand) if it is not already selected, what do you see in the Context Toolbar for the color format and color profile? For an RGB document I would expect something like I have highlighted below: Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. iPad: iPad Pro M1, 12.9": iPadOS 17.4.1, Apple Pencil 2, Magic Keyboard Mac: 2023 M2 MacBook Air 15", 16GB memory, macOS Sonoma 14.4.

walt.farrell
Just now, LuBu said: Can I change this and make it a colour photo? In Photo, use the menu item Document > Convert Format/ICC Profile... In Designer, File > Document Setup... and you can change it in the Color tab. iconoclast
But do that before you insert colored images. Otherwise they will stay black&white (greyscales). walt.farrell

Next, I need to find out how to change the size of the inserted photo(s). I also did not see a command like "Insert a file as a layer" (as I it know from ACDsee). Therefore I just dragged it in. I'm sure there is a better way, or a way to adapt the size of the dragged in photo (s).
walt.farrell
You can use File > Place, or drag/drop. This will give you an (Image) layer, rather than a (Pixel) layer, which will have some aspects you'll need to adjust to. Or, after you get it to the proper size, you can use Layer > Rasterize to convert it to a (Pixel) layer. For getting the image to the size you want, you can grab a corner with the Move Tool and adjust the size of the layer. Or drag it around to position it.
