Kwyjibo Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 Hi there! I’m having a little trouble with Designer on my IPad…… Im trying to open my Designer PSD file from IPad to After Effects on my laptop (via iCloud) but I cannot get AE to open the PSD file with all the individual layers so I can animate them. When I open the PSD on PS on the laptop, It recognises the layers. But when I save resave it’s from this source I still have the same issue, however…..I can do it just fine from a new photoshop file on my laptop and from illustrator on my IPad…..but for whatever reason I cannot get this to work using the PSD file saved from Designer. So I can only conclude that the issue rests with how I am saving the file on the iPad Am I doing something wrong or is there some sort of compatibility issue currently? Ive tried rasterising layers, turning off compatibility etc…. Quote

When you import the Affinity exported PSD file, what options are choosing from the import options in AE? Setting the Import Option to Composition or Composition-retain layer sizes, the separate layers show up in AE for me Quote

Setting the Import Option to Composition or Composition-retain layer sizes, the separate layers show up in AE for me Hi there. Thanks for the reply. I have tried both of those options both on the initial file select but they never import the separate layers. Only a single image. But I am able to retain all separate layers when saving as a PSD via Procreate and AI via my iPad so I have no idea what is going wrong. I recreated the image I wanted to use on the AI app yesterday but I much prefer Designer! However, the PSD saved via Designer will simply not work as intended. I'm using After Effects CC. Quote

Try changing your export options to preserve edit-ability. Kwyjibo Posted March 22, 2022 Author Posted March 22, 2022 Well….I think I figured it out. When I create a new canvas I usually select Print (Press Ready) which is CMYK/8. I made a new document just using regular print which is RGB/8 and the layers show properly on After Effect. I don’t know why this makes a difference….but it seems to be it. When I use CMYK in Adobe Illustrator, it doesn’t have the same issue 🤨 Quote
