Poussart Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 Having used ID for many years, I am still a bit confused with AP styles. I would like a style to remain safely unchanged (« locked ») until I specifically request to change it. In that regard, I find the button drawn as a paragraph sign surrounded by a circular arrow « dangerous » When exploring variations in a style parameter (say a font size) so as to examine what the text would look like, it is very easy (way TOO easy) to click that style update button and redefine the style while the action was just exploring a variety of looks. Once a style has been set, updating it I think it should require both a click AND a keyboard action. Or am I doing something wrong? Quote
MikeTO Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 There's no way to lock a style that I'm aware of. This being so in the current AP, do you think styles should be "lockable" in a future version update: modifying the definition of a style would require pressing a control key in addition to the mouse click. Changing the definition of a slyle while working on a long document may have major consequences, some not immediately visible since they occur far away from the current text frame. My suggestion - I think - would provide a simple safeguard. Quote

I don't think this is a common problem so I don't personally think it's necessary, but others have asked for the ability to customize the Context Bar and if that were done you could just remove the update buttons from ever appearing. That would kill two birds with one stone. Catshill Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 I find styles are easily added (style+1) when using an asset that is not synchronised with the styles used. I fix this by deleting and recreating the asset using the required styles. Quote
