FIND AND REPLACE feature missing in affinity designer - please add it in the next version

Recommended Posts

I was devastated not to find a find/replace feature in designer when I was working with text after importing a pdf document pages.

The artboard tool is a great feature to see the entire pdf laid out like a grid unlike publisher where it shows either as vertically scrollable pages or spreads but not showing all pages as a grid. However, find and replace tool will help immensely to replace extra  spaces etc like how publisher allows.

Please update it in the next version.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

Others have asked for that, and we have no idea whether Serif will add it to Designer.

As a workaround for your workflow, while you wait:

  1. Open the file in Designer, which gives you Artboards as you've found.
  2. From Designer, File > Edit in Publisher, which will transfer the file to Publisher, but keep it in Artboard format.
  3. You then have Find/Replace and the other Publisher functions (text flow, etc.) available while you work on the document.

It would be great indeed to add a Grep/Regular Expression style Find/Replace to Designer. When working with large floor plans and maps this feature is very necessary. In Adobe Illustrator I wrote a plug in that not only allows grep find/replace but also allows me to use grep to find something and select it or highlight it. This would be an awesome feature set to include in a future version.
