  1. Is there any option to cross-reference Figure (Table, photos) numbers in Publisher like InDesign? I have more than 100 figures inside my thesis document but I have no option to cross reference the text (figure no) inside a paragraph to the actual figure number as illustrated in page no 4 & 6 of the attached sample document . Please see if there's a feature alternatively, I could use for this. Or any other way to do it in publisher? The problem is shown in the video below.. 2. I had earlier posted request for Cross-referencing under a different serif blog with an Video illustration of what exactly needs to be incorporated . here's the link for it. hope it clarifies some doubts on Cross-referencing trailing posts on this blog here. please check it out and let me know .
  3. Think footers and cross-references are going to be supported in the next release
  4. This decision will be a game-changer for affinity for a close competition with Indesign
  5. @walt.farrellPlease ask Creators to include the beautiful cross-reference tool, footnotes, Book document among other documentation tools for the next release of Publisher. Also , plugin support for Zotero, Mendeley for Citation work. Can't wait to see these features embraced for better productivity of the users of Publisher.
  6. Yes, I totally agree with you on your last point about having to renumber the reference text if actual figures move around in the body text. That's really a lot of hard work for some 100+ figures. Working with such cross-references is a breeze with InDesign that makes it powerful for document work along with other features like footnotes, running headers etc. Affinity Publisher is an incredibly powerful tool too, but I'm sure the creators have to include these documentation features along with scripting support to make it even more powerful and outweigh InDesign in all forms. One other feature that needs to be included in the publisher is the book document feature of Indesign. It's an incredibly powerful tool when working with multiple chapters of an extensive document file.
  7. sorry, I probably attached a wrong youtube tutorial with the post. Also attaching my publisher document , so that one can demonstrate to me how it can be done. thanks Thesis report - TOC - Figures - tables .afpub

  10. Thanks, @walt.farrell I'm still struggling , but will try and resolve. The TOC paragraph styles don't update , especially with changes to tabstops and character changes
  11. @Old Brucethanks for replying . It was indeed a good reply but I'm sure, someone has a solution to my specific problems.
  12. ScreenRecorderProject19.mp4 This video explains my problem. I've been trying to update the TOC paragraph styles after doing changes to character and tabstops but its not saving those change and I end up doing changes again after every updation of TOC again. This could be very tedious as My thesis report has atleast 50+ lines in TOC. Please help !!
  13. I must thank the Serif community as its the quickest in replying customers queries and difficulties. Great Work Serif!!
  14. Also, I'm not able to update TOC paragraph style after working with tabspaces(1st image) After doing changes in tabspaces and updating paragraph style and thereafter updating the TOC , it reverts back to original . How can one work around this?
  15. Many thanks @GarryP. I need one more help . Can you please cross-reference a text say "Figure" to the numbered figure . its a cross-reference function in Indesign. I have 100+ images that needs to be cross-referenced for texts in paragraphs. How can One do it? please help using the same file I sent earlier.
  16. Yes, actually I figured it out. It was because of paragraphs(for TOC) enclosed in groups . Once I ungrouped, things started working. But , think this shouldn't be the way, as I have to work with groups because of multiple nested objects. Request Affinity to make the paragraphs(for TOC) to work even within groups. Thanks
  17. Hi friends, I was creating a thesis report with Table of Contents , Table of Figures & Table of Tables. After much struggle, I was able to work around the table of contents part. However, for Table of Figures, it showed only 2 figures out of more than 100 figures in my document; the same for table of tables. I've selected the right paragraph style and everything else but still its not working. Does anyone has an experience of working on table of figures and also ways to cross-reference figures as one can do it in Indesign. Can someone please help me resolve this at earliest as I have a deadline to submit the report very soon. If anyone could kindly volunteer to guide me on my screen at your convenience, that will be a of great help. thanks I'm attaching my Affinity Publisher file here....
