My project has gone crazy.
I recolored an area, so I used a layer like this:
- image
-- mask
-- HSL
I saved the project in Publisher and it became a cover. Now I opened it in Publisher or in Photo and I can't create a new mask because it always selects the old, recolored area. I have rasterized the image, but the coloring and selection still appear. I simply can't do anything meaningful in the project because it always selects the small part that I can't delete, the opacity keeps going down but the object doesn't delete.
Please help me to use the project again!
Since the project contains copyrighted images, I can't post it publicly.

Hello @Dan C,

I uploaded two projects:

- original version

- rasterized version

The error is on the second page, look for the Pixel and HSL layer in the second group under AdobeStock_41677911-removebg.png!

Many thanks for the file provided! I believe this is happening as the app still has an active pixel selection, although this doesn't appear to be correctly drawing on the canvas.

If you open the non-rasterised project, navigate to page 2 and make sure that no layers are selected, then simply press ESC (or use Select > Deselect) to clear the pixel selection.

You should now find you're able to mask the layer, as expected :)

Thanks for the tip, I will try it on the non rasterized version. But why is there a layer left on the rasterized version? Where did it inherit the selection from if it's not supposed to be there?

Your trick working on rasterized version too, great thanks!

I'm glad to hear this has helped!

Unfortunately I'm not 100% certain where this selection has originated from, however we have seen files retaining pixel selections (the Affinity apps are designed to save any active 'marching ants' section with a file) and when reopening the selection is not correctly 'drawn', leading to such confusion.

This is logged as a bug with our developers, and I'll be sure to 'bump' this now with  your thread :)
