Hi everyone,

I'm loosing my mind here... I've edited portrait photos with Affinity Photo and they look great in it! But as soon as I export them, they loose color intensity, sharpness and generally don't look as good as in Affinity.

I don't know what to try anymore, I spend the whole day on this..

Can anyone help me?

Thank you,

Tamara 🤗

Hi @Tamara T,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble!

Firstly please ensure you are viewing your document in Affinity at 100% zoom before exporting - as due to the use of mipmaps in Affinity, your document may appear slightly differently at low zoom levels.

Secondly, this may be colour profile related also, can you please confirm for me;

  • What colour profile is the document using?
  • Do you have a custom colour profile applied to your monitor, through your OS?
  • What are your export settings? (A screenshot including the 'More...' dialog would be helpful)
  • Have you changed the default colour settings within Affinity? (Edit > Preferences > Colour)

If possible, are you able to provide a sample of the Affinity file and the exported document here?

Many thanks in advance :)

Thanks for providing these for me! I can see your Affinity document is set to RGB/8 and the Colour settings within the application seem correct, so it may be due to your colour profile applied to your mac monitor.

Can you please navigate to Apple > System Preferences > Display > Colour and provide a screenshot of your settings here? :)

It looks like you you have two displays the Farb-LCD and an AirPlay-Monitor Aus. Not sure how you are using them and if that could be related. As far as I know there is no way to setup a ICC profile/calibration for an AirPlay device. This could explain a difference.

Thanks for the screenshot provided! Please untick Nur für diesen Monitor passende Profile anzeigen, which should reveal a longer list of profiles.

Within the list, please select the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile and apply this to your monitor.

Restart the Affinity application to ensure this has taken affect - do you now find your exported document more closely matches the document within Affinity? :)
