does add function work with groups?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm trying to create a 3d piece of lettering and i duplicated a group layer multiple times to get the effect. I want to merge/add all the grouped layers to create one single shape but it seems all the geometry function do not apply to grouped objects. Is there a way around this? Thanks in advance for your help.

With the 'Group' Layer selected, you aren't able to use these 'Geometry' operations - however you can expand the group and select the Curve objects directly, then use the Geometry operations as required.

Do note that combining all layers into one 'Curves' object will make the whole object the same colour, so I'd recommend keeping the different colours as different layers.

I hope this helps!

Why do you want / need to merge it into one shape? By merging, you will lose all the effects you have done on each layer.
If the reason for merging is easier manipulation and sharing, then you can try to make it a Symbol.
