NashvilleNewman Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 Is there a way to lock the canvas on the screen so it neither moves or zooms? I’m trying to work with some text layer on a canvas and the stupid canvas keeps moving around when I’m trying to select or change the font size. You’ll see here I went to change the font size. and then when I touched the font box again the canvas jerked to the left. IMG_0291.MP4 Quote
NotMyFault Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 There is no global lock protecting against zoom/movement. You could lock the layers individually, and lock document rotation. I fully agree that editing text on iPad is far away from optimal. To edit font size, why not using the text studio? This might provide better control. iuli 1 Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | MBP M3 Windows 11 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 | Dell 27“ 4K iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps. NashvilleNewman Posted December 30, 2021 Author Posted December 30, 2021 It’s HORRIBLE. Trying to find the right spot to touch on the text line to drag a selection of text usually means I end up grabbing the sliders on the text box itself and resizing the whole box. Not familiar with text studio? Thanks NMF Quote
Guest Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 'Studios' in Affinity software is what most other applications would call 'tabs', 'panels' or 'palettes'… the text palette (ahem, 'studio') is accessed from the toolbar on the right with the 'a' symbol. From there you have greater control of the selected text using familiar controls. Unfortunately, using the 'text studio' doesn't really help the incredibly poor text manipulation found in the Affinity iPad apps. This post describes some of the other known issues using type in the Affinity apps on iPad. I can't begin to imagine trying to work with Affinity Publisher on an iPad if these issues remain. Quote
NashvilleNewman Posted January 3, 2022 Author Posted January 3, 2022 Ah ok… Thanks. I am familiar with this. Thanks Bryan. Just didn’t know what it was referred to as…. Just seems silly that I have to create the text in one “studio” and then move it onto a canvas. Like one extra step that’s unnecessary. Quote
