MacOS Ctrl click still not working on masks?

Recommended Posts

I reported this back in 2018.  I was told that they already had it logged as a bug  for the engineers to fix.  3 years have passed. I still don't seem to be able to use Ctrl click on a mask in Affinity Photo for MacOS (using Monterey now).  I check and uncheck Locked child just in case, but still it doesn't work.   Was it fixed and I just don't know how to work with it?   Anyone with a Mac who would tell me please?  Thanks

What is it you expect a CTRL-click on a Mask layer to do? For me, this pops up a contextual menu & always has.

When I highlight the mask, and Ctrl click, the menu pops up.  But it immediate highlights the layer above too.  So if I want to copy the mask, I end up copying both, pixel layer and mask.   No way to isolate and copy just the mask for example.  I'm using to do save to channels but it's easier if I could just copy the mask when needed as people using Windows AP seem to be able to do.

For me, when the Mask is a child of another layer & CTRL-clicking on it selects both the parent & child, like it does for you, if I just want to copy the mask layer, instead of CTRL-clicking on it, I just right-click on it, which does not select any other layer & allows me to copy it. Alternately, I usually just click once on that layer & use the standard CMD-C copy command to do that.

So while there still seems to be an unfixed bug it is very easy to avoid it.

Thank you.   I will try Cmd C of course.  I've been saving to Channels till now, and only today someone asked a question that reminded me of this old issue.  And I had totally forgotten to tap with two fingers on my trackpad for a right click 🙂
