Remember that not all ai features will open in affinity programs, only the pdf stream. Either rename in Finder or saving from illustrator as PDF, the opened file in Designer loss color gradient. But you can't edit the embedded file as it will lose the colors 😒 My guess it has some proprietary features that affinity doesn't like. Maybe someone else has got an solution.
