I have an Epson P900... trying to print 7x5" prints... when I make a document that is 7x5" and then choose "Borderless, retain size" to print, the preview shows a pretty big border... which is really confusing. Is it really supposed to be like that or is it a bug?

Seems to be printing borderless though. But as I don't print this that often it's annoying each time not knowing what the hell is going on...

Using Publisher and I'm on macOS Big Sur latest Epson drivers as far as I know etc...

Edit: in Apple's Pages the previews seem to work as expected so doesn't seem to be a driver issue...

Edit 2: I see that the paper size is different when choosing the borderless option (the add 10mm to height and width), am I supposed to add bleed for the borderless option, is that the intention?

I do not have that printer to test with, nor do I know if this has anything to do with it, but from what I have read, some printers will print borderless only to certain paper sizes, so it seems possible that what is happening is the printer is changing the page size to one that it can print borderless to, but APub doesn't show that in the print preview.

The P900 printer manual should tell which printer driver settings are then needed here and in case of trouble what settings to check for ...

So from the first link apparently for this printer it is some "paper types" that do not support borderless printing?

The paper types (there are a bunch) and if they support border less printing (one also has to see the related footnotes there for those overview tables) are listed from page 182 - 190 on.

See also the TOC there:
