Zheehau
Hi, I just transfer a working file from my old imac (mid 2011 years) to a mac mini 2018 with mac OS Monterey. It get lag very fast when I am drawing using pixel brush. I did a comparison with my old imac 2011, and strangely, the same file, same version of affinity designer, but it work fine in my imac with old Mac OS. In Monterey , it get lag just after a few brush stroke, which make it painful to work with. Is it the OS issue? because a Mac mini 2018 should not be performing worst than my imac 2011. hope the issue resolve soon thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum! There are still some known bugs (high memory allocation which isn't freed again) in Monterey, especially in the way it uses cursors. So it might be overall more Monterey related at all here. - It will be fixed by Apple during incremental Monterey updates! Mark Harris
@Zheehau If you are using the symbols feature, there is a reported/known issue with macOS 12 (since Oct.). It's reproducible and, depending on the complexity of your documents, causes the application to become unusable for many of us. Perhaps you're experiencing something similar -- or something under the hood is causing a similar symptom. For what it's worth -- I'm not experiencing issues like this in any other applications. Moreover, nearly all of my other design applications have been updated multiple times since late Oct. Serif is an outlier at this point. Staff Lee D Posted December 23, 2021 Staff Share Posted December 23, 2021 @Zheehau Check to see if Hardware Acceleration is enabled in the apps Preferences > Performance as this can still cause some issues with some of the tools. Also make sure that macOS is fully up to date.
Zheehau
@Lee D Seems like after i turn of the hardware acceleration, it resolve the issue... so far, after a few try using the same file, seems like working ok. Thanks.
dkasai
Hello! I'm having the same problem: in Affinity Designer (Desktop/IPad), in the Pixel Persona, I experience a delay when drawing - the line appears a couple of seconds later, sometimes only when I zoom in and out not only when drawing with the Pen, but also when drawing with the mouse on a new Macbook Pro (2021) I updated my Macbook to the newest OS-version: Monterey 12.3.1, Affinity Designer is on version 1.10.4 I wasn't able to resolve the problem by adjusting the Performance settings. It seems to relate to the complexity of the document (the number of layers, etc), but not directly to file size. Has anyone similar experiences? Or found a solution? Thanks in advance!
