Jamanh Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 Hey all! Self taught Affinity Designer user here so I apologize in advance for any glaring lack of knowledge. One feature I had been utilizing fairly often with Affinity was "copy pasting" the contents of an artbaord into messages to send as an image over iMessage. It was a handy way to quickly send work for critique or opinions the fly. In the past couple days I have been unable to! When I "right click" to paste the image in Messages it doesn't afford me the option to paste. Previously I had been able to select whichever artboard in the Layers window copy it (either at the layer window or the artboard itself in the work area) and paste it into a message and send it off... Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Quote
R C-R Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 I do not use the Message app much but in a quick test I had no problems pasting a copied artboard into the iMessage message box. I am using macOS Catalina if that makes a difference. Dan C Posted December 3, 2021 Posted December 3, 2021 Hi @Jamanh, Welcome to the Affinity Forums As I understand it, this may not work with all layer types/adjustments - Affinity will copy 'Affinity Data' to the clipboard, and where possible we will also include an embedded image version of the clipboard in case you're copying these layers to a different application. However, certain functions aren't directly compatible with this method and your clipboard currently likely only contains 'Affinity Layers', which need to be pasted within an Affinity app. Could you please share a screenshot showing the Artboard within the Affinity app that you are trying to copy, being sure to include the layers studio so I can better understand what your artboard contains? Many thanks in advance! Quote

So if you copy that selected Artboard to the Mac clipboard (like by using CMD +C) what happens in the Messages app on your Mac if you right-click on the iMessage text box at the bottom of the message & try to select "Paste" from the popup menu? For me, it works fine. Jamanh Posted December 8, 2021 Author Posted December 8, 2021 I just sorted it out! @R C-R @Dan C It doesn't work if I right click to copy, it does work if I use command C, just like you said R C-R. I would never have thought that would make a difference... Thanks for your help guys Sorry if I made a bit of a mountain out of a mole hill there Dan C 1 Quote

It should work if you right-click on the Artboard if it is selected in the Layer panel. If the artboard itself is not selected & you right click on an object in that artboard, it should copy that object instead of the whole artboard, but either way it should copy something to the clipboard.
