koelooptiemanna Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Hi, I have a retina 5K i7 2015 iMac since a couple of weeks now, because Apple won't fix my NVidia iMac 2013 for the 4th time.. they gave me this piece of cr.. well.. Since my switch to Affinity, the first app to start up was Photo. After some time doodling I started to have trouble focusing or something.. and finally put a pair of reading glasses on, to see if my eyes were fatiged.. My mouth fell open when I finally saw what was going on.. I really thought my eyes were getting out of wack.. soft/sharp/soft/sharp images.. I saw some discussions earlier on regarding retina 'issues' with AP(beta) during mouse/pen movement/drawing and with that, an explanation what the render engine is doing.. It partially switches over to non retina during the move/draw strokes. (and bluntly stating along the way that nobody will notice that switch) I want to start to scream, but I won't because I'm a big boy.. but I have to say.. Who thought of that as a serious idea to boost performance/get workable pen/tablet feedback? My mind is going CRAZY while drawing.. With this and the (yes again) dark interface 'arrogance', the cropping issues you're aware of since (insert deity here) knows how long, I can't take AP(beta) serious anymore. Back to the alternative I really don't want to go back to.. In a year or so I will try again and see how things worked out.
Staff Leigh Posted November 30, 2015 Staff Posted November 30, 2015 It's something we're aware of and Matt, who is a AD developer, has explained here why this happening. He's hoping to make a change to the app in the future that should make it less noticeable. Can you explain more about the cropping issues you're having?
