This week, Affinity Photo 1.10.4 started to quit unexpectedly. Since this morning, it’s systematic. The app freezes or other apps freeze while Affinity Photo is open. I restarted my computer (iMac with Mojave) many times but it’s still happening. It’s very disturbing. I would like to return to Affinity Photo 1.9. How can I do that? Thank you.

Hi. It depends on how you purchased Photo, through the MacApp-Store or the Serif-Store. As far as I know, you can't download former versions of Photo from the MacApp-Store. If you purchased from the Serif-Store, here is the link to earlier versions https://store.serif.com/en-us/update/macos/photo/1/

I am very sorry that you are having such problems. Maybe other users will come up with more suggestions on how you can solve these problems. I myself worked with MacOS Mojave until last week, and never had the problems you describe.

Good luck

Hi @delama,

Welcome to the Affinity Forums and I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble!

There are a few things we can try here - firstly can you please navigate within the app to Affinity Photo > Preferences > Performance and provide a screenshot of your settings here for me?

Secondly, I'd like to recommend our latest beta version, which has a fix for a graphics corruption in older macOS versions that may be causing the crashing for you.

You can find this beta linked below, please download and install the alongside your retail version, so that you have 2 versions of the Affinity app installed at once.

Try editing within the beta version, do you still experience any crashing please?

Many thanks in advance :)

Here's my screenshot. It's in French because I am a French-Canadian. ☺️

I copied the link for the beta version but I don't know how to install it alongside. 😳

At the moment, I prefer to wait for your diagnostic about Performance.

Thank you for your concern!

Many thanks for the screenshot provided!

Can you please try unticking Hardware Acceleration at the bottom of this dialog, then restart the app as prompted and try editing once again?

Apologies! Please visit the forum post I've linked for the beta, where you should see a 'Download' option - select this and wait for the .DMG download to complete, then install this as normal.

When installed, the app should be found in your Applications folder under 'Affinity Photo Beta', which will be a separate app from 'Affinity Photo' that is currently installed.

Try using the beta version (both with Hardware Acceleration on and off) and you should hopefully find the app doesn't freeze/quit for you :)
