Basically, this is because when you create a pure vector graphic (with nothing in the file rasterised) and export it to a vector file format such as eps, it has no resolution. If something in the file is rasterised e.g., by adding an fx or rasterising a graphic then it is rasterised at the document resolution...

If you Place your exported 1,440px x 960px graphics onto a 300dpi page or artboard they will appear at 6,000px x 4,000px

  • 1,440px / 72 x 300 = 6,000px
  • 960px / 72 x 300 = 4,000px
