cinemachine Posted November 15, 2021 Posted November 15, 2021 I'm mainly trying to mask a section of the drop shadow I've added using the FX panel as part of it doesn't look realistic. Is there any way to do this? I believe in Photoshop it's possible but am not certain. I'm sure this could also come in handy for many other FX besided drop shadow. Quote
NotMyFault Posted November 15, 2021 Posted November 15, 2021 It is not possible directly. As a workaround, you can duplicate a layer (prior to FX), apply the FX to the duplicate, and then apply a mask to the duplicated layer. Some FX have a "direction" option. This can be utilized to hide part of the effect depending on direction. cinemachine Posted November 15, 2021 Author Posted November 15, 2021 Thanks for the suggestion and for confirming my suspicions that this is not currently possible. Hopefully Serif is listening and will add this in a future update. Quote

Like @NotMyFault said "It is not possible directly." See if this works for you: 1) Duplicate Layer, open FX and set the Fill Opacity to 0% After this you should see the layer effect on its own layer. 2) On the bottom layer, open FX and uncheck all the effects. cinemachine Posted November 15, 2021 Author Posted November 15, 2021 Thanks Lisbon. This is probably the best workaround I've seen. I appreciate your input. Hopefully they will still add the ability to mask an FX on its own at some point. Lisbon 1 Quote
