Hi, I also have a problem opening older files. It seems that this issue is with files that are over 20 MB size because other smaller older files can be opened without Affinity Designer crashing.

I try to open the attached file. AD crashes almost immediately. I tried to find a report, see it attached to my message too.

My version of Affinity Designer for desktop is 1.10.1.1142 and OS is MS Win 10 Home v 10.0.19043.

Hello @Filmator welcome to the forums.

Please make a fresh install from the gpu drivers. Use DDU (https://www.wagnardsoft.com/DDU/download/DDU v18.0.4.4.exe) to uninstall to ensure that all old driver files are deleted.

No backup, no pity.

Thank you @Komatös and @SPaceBar. I spent some time uninstalling and updating drivers, I used DDU as recommended. The file still crashes Designer.

I tried to open the file with iPad. This worked, so I saved the file as a new one. Then I successfully opened the "new" file on the desktop computer. Which is fine 🙂 but does not solve the problem for those who do not have an iPad... 😄

@Filmator You should also check if a Windows system component is corrupt. To do so press Windows key + X, choose CMD (Administrator). Type sfc /scannow in the new Window and press Enter.
