Flares of colors left after Selection tool

Recommended Posts

So I used the selection tool to get this owl out. but when I go into the "refine" tab and put black background on to see the white out line better, I see these flares of colors. I tried using the refine tool to smooth out the flares but it only makes it worse. I have this object selected pretty much perfect around the outer perimeter. Not sure why I am getting this and how the heck do I erase them?

Anyone?

Thanks!

Do you have the original image to hand and is it possible to upload it or a link to where it is? If it was paid for don't upload it.

I would use the transparent option in the preview dropdown, apply and then underlay a black fill layer to see the flares and erase the flares manually.

After using the refine tool, if you still have some fringing, select the image (Ctrl + LM click on layer thumbnail) then shrink the selection very slightly Select - Grow / Shrink), just enough to get rid of most of the fringing, then apply a mask. You might have to play around a bit to get it just right.
