E. Prybylski Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 I am typesetting a book in Affinity Designer, and this has not happened to me previously. I am seeing strange gaps at the bottom of pages, and I cannot pull single lines by adjusting the kerning. It will only pull entire paragraphs, which is problematic. I don't know what is happening here or what setting it is. I have altered the document a few times, but I'm uncertain why this is happening since it just started. Below is a screenshot with some of the text blurred out for author privacy. You can see the gap there. I can adjust the kerning and fill the space, but it doesn't seem to be playing nicely and is snapping oddly. What's going on? Quote
walt.farrell Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. First, Publisher would be better for setting a book. And second, I'm surprised that Designer would "pull" anything from one text frame into another. But if you were working in Publisher, I would suggest checking the Flow options in the Paragraph panel or defined in your Paragraph text style. Those options help keep the lines of a paragraph together. Old Bruce Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 You could have an indent at the bottom of the frames. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
E. Prybylski Posted August 18, 2021 Author Posted August 18, 2021 I am using publisher. My apologies. I got the wrong program name. You are entirely correct about not using Designer for that, LOL! Thank you and also to Old Bruce. I will check both of those things. Quote
