However, unless you have the cursor in a Text Frame or have the Artistic Text Tool active, it shouldn't do anything. As you have the Move Tool selected I don't think the Fields panel will work for you at this point. What are you trying to accomplish by clicking in the Fields panel? (I'm curious, because it seems like a bug, but it also seems like you're doing something that doesn't have any purpose at this time.
