Using the colour tool in AP

Recommended Posts

I'm using tools like text tool and shape tools.
Every time I drag out a shape or a new textbox, the colour changes.
I.e i type a red letter and want a new letter in the same colour in a new box, so I make a new text box and then the colour is black.

This is driving me crazy.. what am I doing wrong?

Yesterday I worked on a picture and used the eyedropper tool. Picked the colour I wanted. Cliced the little dot, but the colour swatch lives it's own life. Don't ask me to replicate, I can't remember exactly what I did.

Hey Madame,

You might try this: select the correctly coloured text (the red one from your example) and click Synchronise defaults from selection on the main toolbar … next time your text should have the same colour … and the same method should work with every kind of object …

Cheers, Alex  :)

Sorry, I found the icons when I clicked customise toolbar...

But it's not consistent, I can't find the "logic",  sometimes it works and sometimes it don't.

I'm sorry for being so slow, hopefully someone else will find this useful. ;)

Usually this should work correctly, Madame. It’s basically like a clipboard or a buffer for your settings on a per-object-type (or per object-creation-tool) basis. Create a text or vector object, apply the desired settings, and hit, while the object is still selected, the Synchronise defaults from selection button (i.e. the left button with cloud and arrow). Now the settings are stored for this object type and recalled the next time you create an object of the same type.

There is an extensive topic in the help files as well (I believe it’s the last topic in the chapter Design Aids). And you have even more options under Edit > Defaults, that are documented in this paragraph of the help …  :)
