mikep
Hi, I am about to purchase a new imac 27" for photography which is my hobbie. My question is can I get photos from the photos-app that comes with the imac into Serif Affinity Photo, which I intend to purcase when I get my new mac? Hope someone can give me the answer to this question. Thanks Mikep
Staff MEB Posted October 23, 2015 Staff Share Posted October 23, 2015 Hi mikep, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) You can use the Media Browser inside Affinity Photo to access the images from Apple Photos library. However editing and saving the image will not get it back to Photos library automatically. Apple Photos doesn't provide a way to edit images using an external editor like iPhoto or Aperture, so currently there's no "roundtrip" workflow between the two. mikep 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
detlefs
instead of Media Browser, you can simply use the regular Open dialog, and select Media/Photos from there and browse the photos library. If you use Photos app beforehand, to set the RAW format as original (Edit a picture, and select Picture -> Use RAW as Original), you can open the RAW in AP. This also allows a kind of roundtrip. If you Save from within AP, the modified file will appear in Photos. Be aware though, if you click Edit again in Photos, it will pick the original again. mikep
