Affinity Publisher - Master Pages pick up pasted text

Recommended Posts

Hi There!

I'm typesetting a book using Affinity Publisher. It works GREAT for the most part, but sometimes I find that when I create new pages they have text on them instead of being blank as expected.  So I look at my "default" Master Page and there is the text.  It somehow got added to the Master Page.  It has happened several times and I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, or if I have set up the Master Pages incorrectly.  The problem is intermittent and I have no idea why it's happening.  I thought to delete the offending Master Page and re-make it, but I fear that would necessitate going through hundreds of pages of manuscript and re-applying a new Master to the appropriate pages.

I just end up erasing the text and creating my pages, but a few pages later, there it comes back again.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Is there any way to lock the Master Pages so that nothing can be added to them by accident?

Thanks for any advice.

Jeff

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

All I can suggest is reviewing the document history when it happens. Within those "few pages" of activity you'll find the answer, probably something you did to the last page you worked on.

Do you use the Pages Panel to navigate between pages? It is easy to hit one of the Master Pages by mistake and wind up editing that instead of the actual new Page. Also be wary of the tiny icon at the bottom of the pages panel, this will switch between Pages and Master Pages.

Finally there is the Right Click (in the layers panel) on a Master Page and hitting Edit Linked (again by mistake) this is a shortcut to effectively edit the Master Page without going to the Master Page itself.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
