Staff Chris B Posted March 25, 2021 Staff Share Posted March 25, 2021 @Asahii So that we are able to investigate bugs thoroughly could you please follow this advice Are you using the latest beta build? ( There is normally a post pinned at the top of the relevant forum that describes where to find the beta installer) Can you reproduce it? (if you cannot then we may struggle to also, making it even harder to fix) Does it happen for a new document? If not do you have a document you can share that shows the problem? If you cannot provide a sample document then please give an accurate description of the problem for example it should include most of the following: What application version are you using? What is your operating system and version? What happened for you (and what you expected to happen) Provide a recipe for creating the problem (step-by-step what you did). Screenshots (very handy) or a screen capture/video. Any unusual hardware (like tablets or external monitors or drives that may affect things) or relevant other applications like font managers or display managers. Did this same thing used to work and if so have you changed anything recently? (software or hardware) A few things to try: Disable OpenCL from Preferences > Performance Update Windows and graphics drivers Try the beta as it contains new fixes/improvements Asahii 1 Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials

Asahii
Well, I am working on Windows 10 laptop with i5 Ram 6 processor. Update 1.9 is the base version that you have purchased. When I work with the selection brush, the program stops abruptly and I cannot choose the buttons or change the tool in short, nothing works and then closes by itself while saving the last step or matter possible in my work. I thought that the problem was with the laptop itself, so I made a complete format and downloaded the program again from the site from my account, and the problem still exists until now. Staff Chris B Posted March 25, 2021 Staff Share Posted March 25, 2021 Have you tried the beta which has a plethora of fixes since 1.9's initial release?https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/137478-affinity-photo-windows-customer-beta-1921005/ Also, the biggest change in 1.9 would be OpenCL - try disabling it from Preferences > Performance. mrburns
Hi Chris B, I don't have OpenCl enabled. So it cannot be that. Any other suggestions appreciated. Meanwhile I will reinstall with 1.9.0 Cheers

Meanwhile I will reinstall with 1.9.0 Cheers We have seen some crashes regarding monitor profiles - if the app is bombing out as soon as the splash screen appears it could be that. A fix has already gone in for Publisher so the other two apps will follow. Until it's available, can we try and confirm if the profile is the issue or not. Please do steps 1 to 3 first and report back - unless you want to try everything. Ideally we'll need to see what Colour Profile the monitor is using, and if possible get a copy of it. You should be able to switch it to use an sRGB profile which should hopefully prevent the crashing. Search for Colour Management from the Start menu in Windows and click to open. With the Devices tab visible, select the correct monitor from the Devices dropdown menu. Can you attach a screenshot of this dialog. I imagine you should see a profile listed and the profiles filename in the list. Please note this down Go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color Find the Colour Profile in here that shares the same filename as the one in the Devices list above in Step 3 Once found copy this to your desktop and then attach it your forum post. Once you have done this - please follow the next steps to change it to use an sRGB profile. However please do the above first as this profile is very useful to us. Back in the Devices tab, select the correct monitor from the Devices dropdown menu and tick Use my settings for this device is selected. Now click Add... and select sRGB IEC61966-2.1 from the list and click OK. The sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile should now appear in the Profiles associated with this device: section. Select the profile and click Set as Default Profile to make it the default. Close the Colour Management window and restart your Affinity app. Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
mrburns
HI All, Yesterday I posted a reply that now appears to be missing. It was good news:- Yesterday I uninstalled 1.9.1.979 and reinstalled from the downloaded file. (1.9.1.979) - I checked that the directory etc was deleted by the uninstall process before reinstalling install went ok and the program is working properly.
