GCHodge
I have an issue where a number of my seamless patterns don't show up as seamless. I primarily use AP for archviz. Previously, I had used the gradient bitmap fill in order to apply patterns to building elevations so I was happy to see the new pattern layer feature in the new version. However, when when I use "new pattern layer from selection", my "seamless" patterns now have seams. Sometimes these seams are quite faint but other times they're really pronounced. Please see the attached for one of the worst examples. Also, please note that these images really are seamless and worked just fine using the gradient bitmap fill function. Any thoughts? lepr
Maybe the source for the pattern was not aligned with the document pixel grid. Try again, but first set the document units to pixel and make sure the selection has an integer width and height and that its top left corner has integer X and Y coordinates, and then do New Pattern Layer From Selection. firstdefence
Try this... Add the seamless texture to the workspace In the Layers Panel Control or CMD click the seamless texture layer to make a selection of that layers content. Go to Select > Grow / Shrink... and set Radius to -1px (The circular option is left unchecked.) The hidden trick to this is to NOT have the move tool selected when you click on the seamless texture layer else it will select the bounds of the texture and not honour the marching ants selection, so, have another tool selected when you click on the texture layer to make it active (highlighted) Now create your pattern layer by using Layer > Pattern layer from selection jaedee 1 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Sequoia 15.0 (24A335), iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... firstdefence
There is also an option to "Force Off" Antialiasing under the layers Blend Options, I played with that setting but it had no affect on the result above. jaedee 1 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Sequoia 15.0 (24A335), iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... GCHodge
Thanks for all the replies, folks. It looks like "anon2" was correct. I was working on a scanned document and the units were set to points. Once I set it to pixels, the borders disappeared. Very happy that this was an easy fix.
