I have been unable to replicate this issue. Please could you try resetting the app by holding the CTRL key while you open it. This will bring up the reset menu then please choose Select All and Clear to reset the program. Please note any UI customisations will be lost in this process.

I did notice that I had a ton of RAM hogging apps open when I was doing this and so when I closed almost all of them I did get the cursor back. Which is a pity because it could mean that I need more RAM or that I will need to restrict my open apps while using AP. I didn't try your tip on resetting though.
