Exporting results in fuzzy logo

Recommended Posts

I have a logo that I can't export in high quality in PNG or JPG (except as a large file). It looks great as an SVG, but that's it. The logo is 400px in height, but I really need it to be PNG with a height of 90px.

Does it have something to do with the brush strokes? The dpi is 300.

I've attached my afdesigner file, plus a large non-fuzzy exported PNG, a small fuzzy png and a small fuzzy jpeg. :( What am I doing wrong here?

(I did also try creating a logo in afdesigner that was 90px high as the original and that also exports fuzzy.)

The export algorithms create some horrible artifacts during down-scaling of the image it seems. Not terribly much to do about it. The different algorithms do not make a big difference.

I tried one trick though - YET ANOTHER WORKAROUND, SERIF!!! - that may help you.

  • Select the two layers
  • Duplicate them (Control + j)
  • Group them (control + g)
  • Name the group export
  • Right click the group and select rasterize
  • Keep it selected - and only that layer
  • Export with the desired settings - remember to select "Selected" in 'Area'

If you require a slightly sharper image you can sharpen it in the pixel person with a low opacity. This is what I got from my how-to above with no additional sharpening:

Export the file at current (full) size to PNG using default PNG settings

Open PNG file and export at required size (90px height) using default export settings

Thanks, guys! Sorry for the late response! I haven't been able to work on this project for a couple weeks.

I tried both methods. Carl123's works the best, although still a tiny bit fuzzy--but manageable. Jowday, I tried the first steps of yours but never got around to sharpening in Pixel Persona. Perhaps that would make a huge difference. I'll try that next! Thanks again! It's good enough for government work.
