Distort vector lines (waves, wiggles, ramps, etc)

Recommended Posts

I'm assuming the answer is 'no', but is there any chance it's possible to create distorted lines in Designer (see sample attached)? I'm looking to create a series of precise, wavy lines with equal and consistent nodes/angles/spacing between each segment. I'm reluctant to jump back to Illustrator do this, and I'm toying with the idea of creating a script in Drawbot/Python that I could easily modify for future purposes, but thought I'd check if there was any easy way to accomplish this currently within Designer.

There is an app for Mac that can achieve what you want, its called Excentro and produces guilloche designs, there is a Lite version for $25: http://excourse.com/excentro/

It can do some amazing patterns and to produce the effect you want is quite simple in this app. It can export to PDF, Ai, and some raster formats. like Tiff, png, bmp and jpeg.

Ooh, thank you @firstdefence - Excentro looks really interesting, although I suspect it's overkill for my current needs. I'll definitely check out the lite version. Thanks again!
