stbn7777
Hey all!! When I start to work with the correction tool brush (pincel corrector) AffinityPhoto starts to block, like they need 30000Gb RAM. I have an a Pentium i5 with 12Gb RAM. I remember that this tool work perfect in old versions of AffinityPhoto (maybe in 1.6, I don't remember exactly). Anyone knows what happends? Thanks!! Staff Chris B Posted January 7, 2021 Staff Share Posted January 7, 2021 Hey stbn7777, Do you mean the Healing Brush Tool? What size document are you working with and what size is the brush set to? As far as I know, nothing should have changed drastically from 1.6 to 1.8. stbn7777
I don't know what the tool is called in English, but I would say yes. In Spanish it appears to me as "pincel corrector" I use raw files from my nikon d750. That is, files of approximately 4000x6000. I thought it was from my camera, but I've downloaded raw files from the Sony a7ii, Canon 5D markiii, and it still happens to me. The funny thing is that it also happened to me in Affinity ipad, but with the last update it was solved. I am attaching a video so you can see what happens to me, and what only happens to me with that tool. Thank you very much for your help! https://photos.app.goo.gl/bouNpp3ykjKwMXeRA Edited January 7, 2021 by stbn7777 Chris B
Staff Chris B Posted January 7, 2021 Staff Share Posted January 7, 2021 Thanks. I have a better idea of what's happening now. I'd be interested to see if this happens when you have hardware acelerration enabled. If you want to try, would you mind downloading and installing the beta (alongside your purchased retail version) and see if this improves? I cannot reproduce it with or without hardware acelleration enabled. You can access this setting in the beta from Preferences > Performance and enable OpenCL. If you'd prefer not to try the beta, does changing the Retina rendering to High quality (Slowest) make a difference? stbn7777
You have solved my problem! It does not work with version 1.8. I have tried all the possibilities on retina. Neither option is good. I have tested version 1.9beta and everything works perfect! With the "openGL" option activated, everything works a bit slower, but the "heling brush tool" works fine. With the "openGL" option disabled, everything works perfect! I have copied the parameters that appear in 1.9beta to 1.8 about RAM management (they were different), but it still does not work in 1.8. I will continue to use 1.9beta until the official one is released and it is updated. But something tells me it won't work either. I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling Affinity, but it didn't work. So I'll save the beta. Thanks again! Chris B
Staff Chris B Posted January 8, 2021 Staff Share Posted January 8, 2021 The retail should be massively improved once it gets the hardware acceleration so fingers crossed this remains a permanent solution. A word of caution - as it's a beta, please be a bit more vigilant with your projects. Perhaps keep a couple of backups in case of regressions etc. Also note that beta files won't open in retail builds. stbn7777 1 Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
