working with AP from Apple Photo

I am using Apple Photo as my DAM.  While I finally seem to have figured out all the kinks of editing jpegs and raw files in AP then saving back to Apple Photo without getting error messages, I wonder if there is a good tutorial on the subject.

I am not talking about the limited AP extensions, which do work quite well with Apple Photo, but rather the full AP.I may have figured it all out but a) it is rather inconsistent and complex, b) I may be missing some info or easier steps, and c) others would benefit from a clearly laid out workflow to edit jpegs and raw files from ApplePhoto then saving them back without getting the error messages.  

If another DAM is greatly preferable to Apple Photo, I welcome recommendations as well but Apple Photo is free and runs well on my Mac.

 

Finally, AP is crashing regularly when editing images from Apple Photo.  Perhaps I a doing something to create instability.

@toocool You're post seems to have slip through the gaps.

We still have some outstanding issues with how image data is moved between the Apple Photos app and ours, these are still with our developers to look into further. At the moment the existing workarounds are still recommend to use.

In terms of a different DAM, there are many different ones to choose from. A lot depends on budget, workflow and available features, it may be worth doing some testing with others to see if any do suit your needs. Most should allow Affinity Photo to be setup as an external editor.

Any chance of posting the recommended workarounds in the faq or as a sticky or somewhere? The issues between Apple Photos and Affinity keep cropping up on a regular basis and it would help if the workarounds were easier to find rather than searching through the forum or hoping another user will answer the question.
